What is Ek Hota Vidushak Movie 5?
Ek Hota Vidushak Movie 5 is a 2023 Marathi comedy film directed by Jabbar Patel and produced by National Film Development Corporation of India. It is the fifth and final sequel to the 1992 cult classic Ek Hota Vidushak, which starred Laxmikant Berde, Madhu Kambikar, Nilu Phule, Varsha Usgaonkar, Mohan Agashe, and Dilip Prabhavalkar. The film portrays the life of a folk theater artist and his struggles with fame, politics, and love.
A brief introduction to the movie and its plot
The movie begins with Aburao (Laxmikant Berde), a famous film star and comedian, performing the final rites of his mother Manjula (Madhu Kambikar) in his hometown Begadewadi. He is doing it by wearing a wig so that he does not lose the continuity of his films. As he revisits his childhood memories, the film unfolds in flashback.
We see how Aburao was an illegitimate son of Manjula, a tamasha dancer who left her troupe for Himmatrao Inamdar (Mohan Agashe), a politician-landlord. After Himmatrao's death, Manjula and Aburao join back the troupe of her sister Kausalya. Aburao gets fascinated by Nana (Nilu Phule), a clown who makes people laugh, and aspires to be like him. He becomes a successful songadya (clown) in the troupe and starts his own company.
He meets Menaka (Varsha Usgaonkar), a film star who advises him to join films. Aburao agrees to do one film but gets addicted to the glamour world. He leaves behind his troupe and his pregnant girlfriend Subhadra (Pooja Pawar). He becomes a superstar but also faces the dark side of fame. He gets involved in political scandals, drug abuse, affairs, and controversies. He also loses his sense of humor and his connection with his roots.
The film ends with Aburao realizing his mistakes and returning to his troupe. He reconciles with Subhadra and their daughter Jaai (Himani Padhye). He also apologizes to Nana, who is on his deathbed. He decides to quit films and dedicate his life to tamasha. He performs one last show with Nana, who dies on stage. Aburao carries on his legacy as a songadya. The film ends with a tribute to Laxmikant Berde, who passed away in 2004.
